Mid Annual Meet 2015: Travel, Boarding/Lodging and Fees

Some information about the MFC mid annual venue

The venue of the conference has been fixed at Satyodayam, a Retreat House, near Tarnaka Flyover.   Satyodayam is a quiet place in a bylane which is well treed in.  No bed tea is served, but one can walk to the main road about 300 meters away to find some at any time.  It officially closes its gates at 10:30 pm.

Retreat has dorms which will accommodate 2 or 3 people each, and has a Western toilet. Each floor has one or two water heaters. The meeting and dining rooms are on the same floor. The mid annual is 8th to 9th August. The rooms are available from the night of the 7th till the night of the 9th for our use.  If some of us want to stay till the 10th early morning because of availability of trains, we may negotiate individually with the director and he most probably won't charge anything extra.

Tentative Timings (to plan arrival and departure)
8th Saturday will start at 9:30 AM to ensure those who come in the morning have time to attend from the beginning.  The meeting is likely to go on till dinner (about 7:00 pm at least).  Broad agenda: Immunization discussion first half; Urbanization and Health second half.
9th Sunday will start at 9:00 AM. We expect it to finish by about 4:00 PM.  If not, those of us who can stay on can do some of the planning after others leave. Broad agenda: Chronic Diseases first half; Annual 2016 topic decision and tentative planning second half.
Participation Fees
Double occupancy rate per person per day:  Rs 700 per head (No Morning Tea, Breakfast, 11 AM Tea, Lunch, 4 PM Tea, Dinner).  We will try to provide tea in the morning at the premises, otherwise you may have to walk to the street corner (about 200m) to a tea shop.
Single Occupancy rate per person per day.  Rs 800 per head (boarding rates as above)  Only 5 rooms are available so those who want single occupancy should notify us (Mithun and Srivats) in advance.
Day participants Rs 300 per head per day.  (11 AM Tea, Lunch, 4 PM Tea)
These rates are a little higher (about Rs 125-175) than Satyodayam's bare Board and Lodge rates to partially cover hall and other expenses.
Students and others of limited means please write to Manisha at:  manishagupte@gmail.com inquiring about the possibility of assistance.  (Manisha, please reroute any requests you cannot manage to Anveshi and if necessary other organizations -- we can pick up some expenses).

Journeying to Hyderabad

 TRAINS

1. The closest station if you are coming from Delhi or Chennai direction would perhaps be Secunderabad Station, or else Kacheguda -- if the train doesn't stop at Secunderabad, look for Kacheguda.

 2. The same holds for many Bengaluru trains. Try Secunderabad or Kacheguda as alighting points.

3. Trains from Mumbai, and some trains from Bengaluru may come to Begumpet and Nampally. Some of these may go on to Secunderabad, in which case get off at Secunderabad, or else choose either Begumpet or Nampally -- depending on time of day both would take as much time for the auto or taxi journey to the venue of the MFC meeting. From any of these places take an Auto to Tarnaka flyover, which is close to the meeting venue.

BUS

Most state transport buses stop either at the Jubilee Bus Station (smaller) or at Imlibun Central Bus Station (bigger). Private transport buses may stop at various places. If you don't know your way, get off at either Jubilee or Imlibun and take an Auto to Tarnaka flyover, the meeting venue.

AIR

Those who travel by air, need to get off at Shamsabad Airport. It is 40 kilometers (approx) away from the venue. If you have the time and inclination take the airport shuttle and get off at Tarnaka. If you are traveling light you may make it to the venue on foot easily, otherwise an Auto is advisable. If you take a taxi go to Tarnaka flyover and then onwards to the venue.
